Well, I'm finally sinking back into my normal routine. I had a great time in North Carolina. It's an amazingly beautiful state full of trees and forests and clean air. I hardly coughed at all while I was there, but the moment I landed back home my smog allergies returned in force. The UNC campus was really awesome. I liked the school, but I'm still not sure if I want to move all the way to NC. Out-of-state tuition is really expensive so that's going to be a big issue.

I got to meet my friend Andrew while I was there. Had to drive about 20 miles from where we were staying to see a movie, but it was worth it. We've become good friends over the past few months and it was nice to finally be able to put a face to the voice. The ham radio scene in NC was nice as well and the people out there were very friendly and say "y'all" a lot. I definitely plan on returning to NC and exploring some more of the state with him.

One regret I have is not taking enough photos. I always do that when I go on vacation. I make photography my lowest priority and then regret not recording the trip when I get back. But--as I said--there's always next time. I'm hoping that Andrew will visit L.A. one of these days so I can show him around. NC was a 180 degrees from what Los Angeles is, it was really a great experience. The thing I disliked most about the state was their confusing highway system. As one gentleman from Texas said to me at the airport, "You'd have to be an idiot to get lost in Los Angeles." In NC, highways have multiple names even though they're the same route! I'll scan a map of the area tomorrow so you can see what I mean.

Well, I should head off to bed. When I get home from work tomorrow I think I'll sit down and actually record the trip in detail and then post it in the writings section of the site. I better do that before the week is out otherwise the memories will start to fade. I'm really glad that I went with my sister, Rachel. Not since she used to live at home with us did I spend this much time with her. She is so fun to travel with. Even though the trip only lasted four days, it was a great time and well worth every cent. I love my sister. :)

I'm off to North Carolina. Be back Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. I probably won't be answering my cell phone while I'm gone since my roaming charges are in the vicinity of $0.75/minute. Catch y'all later!

Nothing like waiting until the last minute to start packing. Leaving for North Carolina tomorrow and I don't even have a suitcase yet. Nice huh? For some reason I'm not really excited about this trip, not anywhere near how excited I was when I was going to NY. We'll see how it goes...

A young woman in New York was so depressed that she decided to end her life by throwing herself into the ocean. She went down to the docks and was about to leap into the frigid water when a handsome young sailor saw her tottering on the edge of the pier, crying.

He took pity on her and said, "Look, you've got a lot to live for. I'm off to Europe in the morning and if you like, I can stow you away on my ship. I'll take good care of you and bring you food every day."

Moving closer, he slipped his arm around her shoulder and added, "I'll keep you happy and you'll keep me happy."

The girl nodded yes. After all, what did she have to lose? Maybe a fresh start in Europe would give her life new meaning.

That night, the sailor brought her aboard and hid her in a lifeboat. From then on, every night he brought her three sandwiches and a piece of fruit, and they made passionate love until dawn.

Three weeks later, during a routine inspection, she was discovered by the captain.

"What are you doing here?", the captain asked her.

"I have an arrangement with one of your sailors," she explained. "I get food and a trip to Europe, and he's screwing me."

"He sure is, lady," the captain said, "this is the Staten Island Ferry!"

I just discovered the greatest boot polish in the world, Lincoln Wax! I'm never going to buy Kiwi again; this stuff is awesome! I swear, it got my boots looking like glass.

I know, I know, only a military guy would get so excited over boot polish. Sad, huh?

Just took my first test in Human Biology. It had to have been the worst test I have EVER taken in college. Who makes multiple choice questions that have TEN possible answers?! This is definitely the worst class ever. Sad to say, if I get a C, I'll be happy. Time to study for the third in this week's slew of tests. Damn colonialism!

Finally got my ROTC grade for last quarter. I managed an A-! Most importantly though, I got 100 on my paper on Patton with a remark from CPT Babcock stating that she'll "keep an eye out for the future General Topiol."

Well, back to Human Biology :(
