Well, summer school is finally over. I just submitted my final research project. I really hope I pass the class with a C, I don't want to have to retake it in the winter..though I have a feeling that I screwed up too much to be able to pull it off this time. I guess all I can do now is hope.

So let's see...I get ONE WHOLE WEEK OFF before GOING BACK TO SCHOOL. It just never ends. 18 weeks of hell is just right around the corner. I really want to do something--get away--this week before going back to the grind. Maybe I'll go up north and visit a special someone ;)

I just paid fifteen freakin' dollars to some lame archival company to get a copy of an article for a research project. To make matters worse, they didn't even have a student discount so I had to pay the same amount that anyone on the planet would. I've paid for articles before, but they are usually only two or three dollars. Fifteen dollars is outrageous! So, as part of my research project on the effects of solitary confinement on prisoners, and in accordance with fair use and the archival service's own copyright agreement, I have placed this PDF file on this web server for use in acaedmic research.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I'm never taking another online class as long as I live! If you're a procrastinator like me, then I advise that you do the same. I should have taken English 2 on campus, but I thought it would be easier and more effective to take it online. Boy was I wrong! I'm not even sure if I'm going to manage to pass this class now. I have a research project due Saturday night which I haven't even started and if i don't all but ace that project I'll probably fail the class. At present, the bset I can probably hope for is a C, which I'd be happy with at this point. I just wanna get this class overwith. At least I got A's in my other two summer classes.

I just got back from the most awesome Bluegrass concert! The Witcher Brothers and Byron Berline performed at the John Ford Theatre in Hollywood in a concert that started at 1930 and ended at 2300, quite a performance! I went with my father, sister, and brother-in-law, and had a great time (despite the fact that I hadn't really eaten anything all day and was a bit grouchy). The music really made me want to get out of Los Angeles again and get on the road, preferrably to Tennessee. I guess I know where my next adventure will find me...

This semester went relatively well. I got an A in two of my classes, though my English class is still in progress. Unfortunately, I don't expect to fare much better than a "C" in that class. This is the absolute last time I take an online course; they are absolutely evil, especially if you tend to be a procrastinator to begin with. I thought that it would be easy given the fact that I didn't need to schedule any on-campus time for it, but that idea backfired big time. I've done very poorly as far as participation is concerned (discussions, etc.) and have waited until the last minute to do all my reading assignments and as a result my papers have gone from "A" material to "B"s. C'est la vie, I suppose. I hope all of you can learn something from my mistake: don't take online classes unless you're super-well disciplined! My friend and I both agree: they're evil!

Spent the better part of yesterday morning in Downtown L.A. Downtown is an interesting place, to say the least. The skyline is incredible and the buildings are amazing, but the atmosphere and people leave something to be desired. During a brief walk to 6th and Main to grab a bite to eat at Cole's P.E. Buffet (the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the city), I got to smell every possible bodily function there is, and even witnessed one in progress (I'll spare you the details). Needless to say, it was a very "interesting" morning. The city really needs to do something to clean up Downtown. It should be the pride of the city, a place for culture and unity; however, right now it's a virtual shithole. Maybe some day we'll have a mayor like Giuliani who will do something to clean up Los Angeles, and Downtown.

In other news, my "friend" still owes me the $1,500.00 which I lent him all the way back in April and was to be paid back by the first week of May. What's more, I'm in desperate need for the money as I'm about $500.00 short this month, and the bills are due by the end of this week. :( Time to dip into the savings again (which will only last about another two months at this rate). I've been trying to find a better-paying job but to no avail. I hope something turns up soon, else I may have to sell my car or drop out of school. These are both options which I would rather not have to entertain. This past year has really stunk, and I don't see any improvement on the horizon.

On a lighter note, PacBell finally fixed my DSL (knock on wood). It only took seven trips and nearly a dozen technicians to solve the problem. Hopefully it stays fixed this time.
