A Month Later, New ChallengesIt's been over a month since I decided to decided to embrace life on two wheels. The experience has had its ups and downs, with me finding myself behind the wheel a little bit more often than initially expected. I have managed to eliminate the car from my daily routine, staying true to the bicycle for the vast majority of small and routine tasks.
Now comes the newest challenge. I have decided to go back to school and finish up the three classes that stand between me and my transfer degree. Starting in August I will have to make a twice-weekly commute to Santa Monica College, a trip of about 11 miles each way. I am now debating if I will ride my bicycle the entirety of the trip, supplement the commute with public transportation, or break down and drive. The jury is still out (and I think I may need some words of encouragement to make the right choice). When the time comes I'll update this blog with my ultimate decision.
In the meantime, Nicole and I both continue to get yelled at by ignorant motorists who can't stand to share the roadway with anything human-powered. Angry motorists have yelled at us for riding in the street, for making left turns, or for simply existing. Pedestrians on the sidewalks alongside virtual death trap boulevards have also spouted ignorant profanities and angry comments about our occasional sidewalk riding (which is legal in the city of Los Angeles).
In Site NewsAs far as the site goes, I know that I'm well overdue for an update to the photo galleries. I've been swamped with work lately (and when I'm not working the last thing I want to do is do more work on the computer). I'll see what I can do though. I am starting to lack motivation when it comes to anything programming related. I need to get back into EMS.
