The System Was Down, The System Was Down

As some of you may have noticed, this site was unavailable for the past few days. Apparently my third Maxtor hard drive decided to fail (click of death) which resulted in a crash of the server that hosts this site. Suffice it to say I will never purchase another Maxtor hard drive again.

Luckily all of my data and web files were stored on a seperate drive so no information has been lost. The server is (obviously) back up and running and hopefully will stay that way.

Photo Updates Have Begun

That's right folks, I've finally gotten around to posting new photo albums. Even though some of the events have happened months ago I am dating them for when they are posted so that they appear as new in the photo gallery for a little while. They will be properly dated in a couple weeks.

Check out the photos section for the latest galleries. So far there are two new ones with more to follow in the next couple of days.

So Long Interactive Design

Those of you who have known me for any period of time probably know that "intd.net" stands for "Interactive Design", a company that I never really managed to properly form. Well, the other day I came to the realization that it was time for me to officially create a legal entity for my software development consulting business. Of course, it turns out that Interactive Design, Inc. is already registered by someone else in California so I was forced to come up with a new name for the company.

Two days ago I filed paperwork to form the Pandion Development Corporation. In less than two weeks the process will be complete and PDC will exist as a true and legal business entity (I guess that also makes me a real CEO). Interactive Design is no more. I will keep the intd.net domain name indefinitely (as it seems that four-letter domain names are quite valuable), but it currently has no meaning. Perhaps you folks can suggest clever things that I can say INTD stands for. Consider it a contest with no prize (isn't *that* incentive to participate!?)

Btw, you do realize that MS runs a yearly conference called the PDC. I guess I just wanted to throw a monkey wrence in your gear work.

INTD is a customer service business, based in South Central Los Angeles, that rejects any customers who have problems with their systems.

INTD stands for "I Not Touchin' Dat!"

A Month Later, New Challenges

It's been over a month since I decided to decided to embrace life on two wheels. The experience has had its ups and downs, with me finding myself behind the wheel a little bit more often than initially expected. I have managed to eliminate the car from my daily routine, staying true to the bicycle for the vast majority of small and routine tasks.

Now comes the newest challenge. I have decided to go back to school and finish up the three classes that stand between me and my transfer degree. Starting in August I will have to make a twice-weekly commute to Santa Monica College, a trip of about 11 miles each way. I am now debating if I will ride my bicycle the entirety of the trip, supplement the commute with public transportation, or break down and drive. The jury is still out (and I think I may need some words of encouragement to make the right choice). When the time comes I'll update this blog with my ultimate decision.

In the meantime, Nicole and I both continue to get yelled at by ignorant motorists who can't stand to share the roadway with anything human-powered. Angry motorists have yelled at us for riding in the street, for making left turns, or for simply existing. Pedestrians on the sidewalks alongside virtual death trap boulevards have also spouted ignorant profanities and angry comments about our occasional sidewalk riding (which is legal in the city of Los Angeles).

In Site News

As far as the site goes, I know that I'm well overdue for an update to the photo galleries. I've been swamped with work lately (and when I'm not working the last thing I want to do is do more work on the computer). I'll see what I can do though. I am starting to lack motivation when it comes to anything programming related. I need to get back into EMS.
